When you’re going through a particularly difficult period in life, the support of a caring, non-judgemental person can be invaluable. Sometimes you just need someone outside of your life to listen and really hear you. Often the answers are right there, and you just need some help seeing them. Good therapy is often less about telling you what to do, and more about helping you to discover what you want to do and giving you the confidence and skills to do it.

Insight and understanding are a key part of any therapeutic journey. However, sometimes we're looking for a more comprehensive exploration of the way we are. Schema Therapy offers an invaluable tool for understanding both self and relationships. Uncover deeply engrained patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. Build insight and shine a spotlight on the blind spots to improve your relationship with yourself, others, and life.

Anxiety is a normal and natural human emotion, but the pain of living in constant struggle with anxiety can be immense. From social anxiety and panic disorder to intrusive thoughts and obsessive thinking, James has extensive experience helping to provide relief from anxiety. James has also published research in the area of OCD.

Everyone experiences low mood and dark days. However, when the dark days outnumber the light, you may benefit from some support. There are countless strategies from a wide range of therapies designed to shift low mood. Some target our thinking, some our doing (behaviour), some our feeling. James will work with you to discover what will be most helpful for supporting you out of the dark days and back into the light.

Relationship issues are one of the most common reasons for presenting to therapy. James has a deep interest and extensive experience helping people navigate these issues. He has advanced training in Gottman couples counselling and works one-on-one with individuals to help support them, process strong feelings, gain clarity, and up-skill them. No one knows your relationship better than you, but a compassionate third-party can be incredibly useful.

James has always found it deeply rewarding to work with men to improve their sense of self, relationships with others, and overall quality of life. Common issues include a sense of failure or not being good enough, relationship issues with partner, work stress and burnout, loneliness, and addictions.
If you’re unsure as to whether your particular situation will be suitable for James, please feel free to reach out and ask!
Dedicated.
James prioritises quality over quantity by offering a limited number of appointments per day. This allows him to invest more energy and attention during sessions and dedicate additional time outside of sessions to your care.
